Mawkyrwat: NFSA (AAY and PHH) and Non-NFSA rice for April will be distributed immediately in South West Khasi Hills, an official notification issued by the deputy commissioner Isawanda Laloo of the district said on Friday.
“These are steps taken by the government to alleviate problems faced by the public. They are requested to not panic or resort to hoarding as all efforts are being made to ensure adequate supply of food grains both through PDS and in the open market,” the DC said.
The DC instructed that all concerned FPS dealers and vigilance committees in the district to oversee the proper functioning of the FPS centre and social distancing is maintained during distribution.
Laloo informed that advance lifting of food grains under NFSA and non-NFSA for May and June will begin in April. For July, lifting will start in May.
“Hence by the month of April the quota of May and June will also be made available to the ration card holders,” the DC said.
Laloo also informed that for the relief of the general public, the Government of India has announced that for AAY beneficiaries, 5 kg per head will be provided free of cost for 3 months, that is, April, May and June along with the regular quota of 35 kg per household per month at Rs 3 per kg.
For PHH beneficiaries, 5 kg per head will be provided free of cost for April, May and June along with the regular quota of 5 kg per head per month at Rs 3 per kg.
Monthly buffer stock of Non-NFSA rice allotment for May, June and July will be released and made available in the open market for the general public at prescribed rate to be fixed by the DC’s office, Laloo said.
