Mawkyrwat: Mawkyrwat MLA, Renikton L.Tongkhar on Wednesday wrote a letter to Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma requesting the state government to allow markets of forest products after April 14.
With the ongoing lockdown, people from Riwar area could not sell their forest products which are their source of livelihood.
Tongkhar requested the CM and said that forest products like broom stick, wild pepper and tespata leaf market should be started from April 14 as it has affected the poor people.
Tongkhar was also of the opinion that the state government should suggest to the Government of India to immediately stop movement of troops especially the Border Security Force (BSF) to avoid spreading of COVID-19 from one place to another.
He also said that inter-state and international border should be completely sealed to ensure that no outsiders enter the state.
