SHILLONG: South Shillong legislator Sanbor Shullai distributed free ration to more than 8000 registered beneficiaries in collaboration with Dorbar Shnong, village councils and NGOs within cantonment and Municipal areas under the constituency.
The distribution which was divided into 13 different zones was successfully implemented and in crowded location the distribution was made door to door by volunteers.
The local MLA during his visit to the zones assured the people of South Shillong that assistance in the second phase will be to BPL families thereby providing the much needed relief to the distress caused by lockdown caused by COVID-19.Financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh from the MLA salary has also been given to the deprived 500 poor BPL families at the rate of Rs 2000 each residing within South Shillong constituency selected and recommended by the members of the core committee of MCIC,South Shillong.
