Lapang opens school building

 NONGPOH: The Chief Adviser to the government of Meghalaya DD Lapang inaugurated the new building of the Umpathaw Secondary School at Umpathaw on Tuesday.

In his speech, Lapang said social and community services performed by the believers of the Presbyterian Church were immensely beneficial and constructive. He appreciated the work done by the church leaders in the village.

He urged the students to be presentable, dependable and humble.

“Education is a must for every child, and that with the cooperation of parents, teachers and students the literacy rate might increase manifold,” he said while calling upon students to work hard and aim high.

He advised the school authority and teachers to provide quality education to their students.

The meeting was attended by M. Deka, District School Education Officer, Ri Bhoi district, G. Khongsdir, Sub- Divisional School Education Officer, and others.

The fund for the said building was sanctioned under BRGF scheme.
