NONGSTOIN: The KSU (Nongstoin Circle) led by its president Davis Goldfield Wanniang and General Secretary Rishot Kharbani visited the State Bank of India, Nongstoin Branch after they received some complaints from local villagers.

Villagers had alleged that the bank authorities were selling Kisan Credit Card (KCC) for Rs 200/- Rs 500/-, whereas these were actually supposed to be disbursed free of cost. During their visit, they caught the bank staff red-handed as they were charging Rs 200/- per KCC application form. They found that the bank had disbursed these forms to agents to sell them to the clients for Rs 500/-, while they sold them for Rs 200/- at the bank. They caught hold of one of the agents Colin Nongseij of Nongsohlait Village in Nongstoin. They also raided his house where they recovered hundreds of KCC forms along with several EPIC cards, land papers, pass books and fake seals of village councils.

Colin later confessed to the KSU that he had been doing this since 2009. He said that one Das, a previous staff of the bank at Nongstoin used to supply him with the forms earlier. But after his transfer, another peon of the bank, Khainborlin Lyngdoh supplied him with the same.

The Union then met the Branch Manager who refused to give his name. He is casually called Bah Warbah in Nongstoin. Warbah claimed innocence and said that he was not aware of the sale of KCC forms.
