SHILLONG: The Grand Council of Chiefs of Meghalaya & Federation of Khasi States (FKS) has lauded the police personnel of the Meghalaya COVID-19 control room for thier swift and prompt action in tracing a 13-year-old girl hailing from Siangra village in West Khasi Hills, who returned during the late hours of Thursday from Karnataka and did not have a mobile phone, a statement issued here said.
After reaching Guwahati Railway Station, the girl, who was accompanied by other students, boarded a bus to Nongstoin.
In the statement, the adviser & spokesperson of FKS, John F Kharshiing, said that the parents and family members of the girl were anxious about her whereabouts.
It was on Friday at 3.30 pm, after the quick response of the Meghalaya Police COVID-19 control team, the family learned that their daughter was kept at an isolation centre in Nongstoin, the statement said.
The family members expressed their gratefulness to the police for facilitating communication between the girl and them.
The students who returned from Karnataka had a memorable five-day long challenging journey, the statement added.
