SHILLONG: Lawyer Nazmul Hashan, who exposed corruption in the functioning of Askikandi VEC, refuted the allegations by the VEC secretary that he had demanded Rs 2 lakh from him.
Hashan said the VEC secretary is falsely accusing him for filing complaint regarding the misuse of the MGNREG scheme fund.
In a statement issued on Monday, Hashan said the VEC secretary Mofidur Rahman is a corrupt person who is trying to defame him by false accusation of demanding money.
“It’s an attempt to disgrace my reputation for complaining about him. Rahman and another VEC member have been suspended over the misappropriation of the fund and now he is taking revenge,” Hashan said.
This false complaint can land him into trouble as per the Constitution, he said. Earlier, Hashan had filed FIR against Rahman for misusing MGNREG fund following which, Rahman was suspended.
