TURA: Two job card holders of Soleartek part-II VEC under Phulbari of West Garo Hills have submitted a complaint to the Deputy Commissioner accusing the VEC president and secretary of committing various irregularities including withdrawing wage amount due to them without their knowledge.

The complaint was filed on Monday by job card holders- Johurul Hoque and Saiful Alom Ahmed in which they alleged that wage money due to them was withdrawn by the VEC leaders without their knowledge and signatures on any withdrawal form or muster roll maintained for the works. The alleged irregularities reportedly took place in connection with the construction of Road and Land Development Work under MGNREGA Scheme of 2018-19 and 2019-20. The complaint also alleged that illegal job cards were registered by the VEC leaders in the name of several deceased persons including some residents belonging to neighbouring Assam.

While claiming that grave misappropriation of government funds have taken place under the VEC, the complainants urged the deputy commissioner to enquire into the matter at the ground level and take action against the VEC leaders in the interest of the general public.
