SHILLONG: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Meghalaya has urged the state government for partial fee waiver at both public and private educational institutes and also release of all pending student scholarships at the school, UG and PG levels in order to ease students’ problems post lockdown.
The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad has come up with a few suggestions to help the students as well as the academicians and also met Governor Tathagata Roy in this regard.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad P suggested course distribution wherein the final semester students should not suffer a loss and the course in the lower semesters can be redistributed in the higher semesters for proper completion of syllabus.
It also suggested that classes should initially start for IX, X, XI & XII and the schools should ensure that teachers are always accessible to students online as well.
Continuous supply of electricity and stable network to facilitate students attending online classes, continuous evaluation with proper quizzes and assignments before promoting the students, restructuring of the syllabus to ease completion and inclusion of local language in addition to English and Hindi in the online content are among the other suggestions.
Besides, it said while reframing the academic calendar, it is of utmost importance to bear in mind the extreme winter conditions in the state.
“Finally, post lockdown the education department may adopt a blended model of learning of both offline and online education to benefit the students as much as possible while also maintaining the social distancing norms’” it said.
