SHILLONG: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma on Friday launched the web portal for online registration with the Meghalaya Employment Exchanges here in the city.

Terming the launch of the web portal as befitting since 2012 is being observed as the ‘Year of the Youth’ Dr Sangma said this will be justice done to job seekers and the youth of the State.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister also stated that the State Youth Policy would be finalised soon.

“There will be a clause in the Policy where it will be binding on all the industries to indicate their requirement for employees in various categories,” he said.

He also maintained that the obligation of these industries is to provide jobs to the locals since the policy of the government to promote and attract investment in the State is quite attractive with substantial incentives being provided to the industries.

“We will ensure that there is an enabling component in the Industrial Policy which is being amended to make it binding on the part of the industries to become effective partners in this particular programme,” he added.

The Chief Minister was also of the view that the district selection committees and the Meghalaya Public Service Commission should upload their advertisements besides information about various job opportunities on this web portal.

Deputy Chief Minister Rowell Lyngdoh, Chief Secretary WMS Pariat, Principal Secretary NS Samant and Technical Director, NIC, Pune, Poonam Gupta were present at the launch programme.

It may be noted that this web portal is modeled after the Rojgar Wahini Portal being implemented in Maharashtra which received the CSI – Nihilet Award in the year 2008 and can be accessed online at http://dectmeg.nic.in
