NONGPOH: The Khasi Students’ Union said that it will continue to oppose the laying of a railway line in the state as long as the government does not come up with a strong mechanism to curb the influx.
The union president, Lambokstarwell Marngar, during the oath administering ceremony of KSU Lum Umpih Unit at Umsning on Thursday, reminded the members about the protest against the railway line laying in 2017, wherein many were arrested but the spirit to guard the welfare of the people did not fade away.
Marngar administered the oath to the newly elected members of the KSU Lum Umpih Unit, who included Laraplang Nongbri (president), Balakynshew Nongbri (vice president), Khrawbor Nongbri (general secretary), Shaipyrkhat Nongbri (assistant general secretary), Danny Lyngkhoi (finance secretary), Wanlambok Nongbri (organising secretary), Andy Lyngdoh (publicity secretary), Wanmardor Nongbri (education secretary) among other members.
