SHILLONG: The FKJGP, West Khasi Hills District, has demanded to make the blood bank at Nongstoin Civil Hospital operational. It pointed out that albeit the building for the blood bank was completed, it was non-functional.
The organisation, in a statement, said that operation of patients and pregnant mothers is being done every week without a blood bank, which poses a threat to the patients, who need blood urgently.
Most of the people rush to Nongstoin Civil Hospital, which lies in the heart of West Khasi Hills, for treatment.
The FKJGP also informed that earlier a memorandum was submitted to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma with regard to making the blood bank at the hospital operational.
SBI Riangdo Branch
Meanwhile, the Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) Mawshynrut Circle has voiced its concern over the non-functional SBI Riangdo Branch in Mawshynrut Civil Sub-Division, demanding that it be made operational at the earliest.
The federation said that the rented building of the branch has not been put to use since 2019, adding that it has created several problems for the public.
On the other hand, it has asked the state government to appoint a full-fledged Sub-Divisional Officer at Mawshynrut MePDCL office.
