NONGSTOIN: West Khasi Hills District Congress Committee on Tuesday staged a protest against the inflation in fuel price with the committee displaying slogans against the Centre’s move.
The protest was organised by District Youth Congress Committee in collaboration with the Nongstoin Tourist Association.
Prior to the protest, District Youth Congress Committee conducted a short programme at Nongstoin Congress Bhavan.
The programme was attended by District Congress Committee president B Nonglang, in presence of Rambrai Legislator Kimfa S Marbaniang, MDC Rambrai Jyrngam Bajop Pyngrope, MDC Nongstoin Gabriel Whalang, among others.
Addressing the gathering, Marbaning said that with the rise in fuel price, there has been a rise in the price of commodities as well, since Meghalaya depends solely on road transport.
“The hike in the fuel price is much faster than the price of gold,” said Pyngrope, accusing the prime minister of ‘looting’ the people.
