Conrad Sangma greets people on occasion of Behdienkhlam

GUWAHATI: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Wednesday greeted the people of the of the state on the occasion of Behdienkhlam.

‘Together, let’s offer prayers to the almighty and perform rituals from our abodes to ward off evil that’s taken the world under siege. May this festival bring forth good health and abundance to the citizens of our State and our country. Wishing everyone a happy #Behdienkhlam,’ Sangma tweeted.

Behdienkhlam is a popular harvest festival celebrated by tribal communities in the Jainta hills district of Meghalaya. The festival is not celebrated by the Christian community in the state and is observed by Hindus and followers of the ‘Niamtre’ faith.
