NONGSTOIN: With the state government directing authorities to impose a penalty of Rs 500 on the violators of the health advisories, the West Khasi Hills District Administration seems to have failed to implement the directive in and around the district.
It is only in Nongstoin market that people follow the hand-washing etiquettes and wear face masks as the Nongstoin Market Covid-19 Management Committee has laid down rules while the volunteers have been keeping a tab at the entrance and exit points of the market.
The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) West Khasi Hills have also approached the West Khasi Hills DC seeking an end to the blatant violations of protocols.
Urging the DC to provide restrictions, the KSU suggested measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
