SHILLONG: The youth wing of Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) has urged the KHADC and JHADC to petition the Centre asking them to make trading license mandatory for a company in order to float a tender in the state.
In a statement, the president of youth wing of KHNAM, Thomas Passah, said that it is a surprise that non-indigenous people are carrying out trade without any trading license which shows the disregard to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).
He said that a tender was floated by NEIGRIHMS which was handed over to an agency from New Delhi on July 13 and the establishment clearly does not possess a trading license.
He observed that NEIGRIHMS should have confirmed whether the company has a trading license or not. He said that despite a low bid for tender by the indigenous people, the work was not given to them and instead NEIGRIHMS allegedly allotted it to a company in Delhi.
While urging the KHADC to be vigilant, Passah said that the Council should write to the central government offices.
He said that the political party will dig deep and file an RTI, if necessary.
