BJP seeks govt intervention to revive tourism

SHILLONG: State BJP president Ernest Mawrie, in a meeting with the central party leadership on Thursday, sought the Centre’s intervention to kick start the Tourism sector, which has remained shut for a prolonged period of time owing to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
BJP national president, JP Nadda met with state BJP office bearers, Morcha heads, districts in-charge and presidents via online meeting.
Informing the Nadda about the COVID-related work in the state, Mawrie said that state BJP had distributed 44,687 packets of food, 1,10,800 face masks and 18,300 bottles of sanitisers to the needy.
The BJP national president lauded the Meghalaya BJP members and functionaries for reaching out to the public in trying times.
Meanwhile, Ram Madhav, BJP national general secretary, stressed on the need to strengthen the party in the state so as to serve the people better.
