4 more die of COVID-19 in Assam, toll mounts to 98

GUWAHATI: Four more COVID-19 patients died due to the infection. The deceased COVID-19 patients have been identified as Manik Saha (68) of Hojai, Minu Banik (30) of Kamrup Metro, Gopal Das (68) of Jorhat and Bijay Sarkar (59) of Dibrugarh. The death due to COVID-19 in Assam has gone up to 98.

Sharing the information Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “Sad to share the demise of four more #COVID patients~ Late Manik Saha (68) of Hojai; Late Minu Banik (30) of Kamrup Metro; Late Gopal Das (68) of Jorhat; Late Bijay Sarkar (59) of Dibrugarh. May God provide strength to their families to bear the loss. Prayers!”

Meanwhile, Kamrup Metropolitan District administration in Assam has launched a massive COVID-19 testing drive covering   government offices and public enterprises in different parts of the district at the instance of the state Health Department which has ramped up the testing further in order to flatten the curve of COVID-19 spike in the district.

The health workers engaged by the district administration conducted 4267 tests on Thursday while the target is to carry out 5000 tests a day.
