SHILLONG: The relatives of the patient from Jaiaw Laitdom who had passed away, on Saturday clarified that due to low battery, their mobile phone was switched off after they had called the 108 ambulance to shift one of the family members who was critically ill to the hospital.
In response to a news report that the man died waiting for 108 ambulance to arrive at Jaiaw Laitdom, the brother-in-law of the victim, W. Lyngdoh said that there was some confusion from the family who had lost a family member.
“The claim by the officials from GVK EMRI 108 that they had sent the ambulance on the wee hours of July 29 last must be true since our mobile was already switched off. We had also not heard of the siren of the 108 ambulance to alert us that they had arrived near our house,” Lyngdoh said.
He said that the family members would like to tender apology to the GVK EMRI for this confusion.
