EPFO releases Rs 5.76 cr COVID-19 advance

SHILLONG: EPFO, Regional Office, Shillong, which caters to Meghalaya and Mizoram, has disbursed Rs 5.76 crore to 1659 members as COVID-19 advance during the lockdown period from April to July.
The COVID-19 claims are settled within 3 days.
KK Srivastava, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner, said Rs 1.45 crore was also released as PMGKY benefits to eligible members from March to July which is approved by the Centre @ 24 percent of wages towards EPF contributions.
Srivastava further informed that the benefits will be available to eligible members from March to August.
“Efforts are being made to create more )awareness among the eligible employers with a request to update Aadhar of their employees as 10,453 members under RO Shillong are eligible for PMGKY benefits,” he said.
The claims of EPF members regarding provident fund, pension, EDLI and other advances are being settled within 20 days and death claims are settled within 7 days.
Srivastava said 3421 claims have been settled and Rs 18.66 crore has been disbursed from April to July.
Besides, two exempted establishments such as NEEPCO and Meghalaya Cooperative Apex Bank have also settled 421 COVID-19 claims and disbursed Rs.6.46 crore.
The official urged various employers who are eligible for PMGKY benefits and those who have not submitted ECR up to June to submit it as early as possible to avail PMGKY benefits.
The EPFO is also conducting webinar with unexempted establishments each week and fortnightly with exempted establishments.
Nidhi Aapke Nikat programme is also held on 10th of each month or next working day if it is a holiday for redressal of grievances of employers and employees.
