Kohima: The GPRN/NSCN (Khole-Khitovi) has made it clear to the Joint Legislative Forum (JLF) of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, that it would not be a party to any ‘alternative solution’ or ‘interim government’ in relation to the Naga political movement.
The JLF, in its first meeting to reach the Naga rebel outfits, led by Chief Minister Niephiu Rio, had called a meeting with the GPRN/NSCN outfit at Chumukedima on Friday in what was reported to be an attempt to ‘discuss issues on expediting Naga political talks in the right perspective’.
The crux of the issue was the ‘alternative arrangement’, on the nature of which the JLF appears to have failed to throw light to the outfit’s satisfaction.
Naga Peoples Front (NPF) president and veteran regionalist Dr Shurhozelie Lezietsu is reported to have told the wary GPRN/NSCN that the JLF had informed Delhi that ‘any settlement to the Naga problem should be with the consensus of the Naga people’.
The Chief Minister refused to divulge details of the discussions. ‘We were talking, listening and understanding one another,’ he said.
Asked whether the JLF would meet other Naga groups, Mr Rio said, ‘We will meet everybody’.
Mr Rio was accompanied by Home Minister Imkong L Imchen and opposition leader Tokheho Yeptomi among others.
The GPRN/NSCN was led by their ‘home secretary’ Ghukiho T Zhimo.
After the meeting, that stretched for more than three hours, ‘MIP Kilonser'(information minister) of GPRN/NSCN Akato Chopi told reporters that while many ‘misunderstandings were thrashed out’, the outfit still had apprehensions over the reported ‘alternative arrangement’ to the Naga political struggle.
The outfit also told the JLF in no uncertain terms that it was not in agreement with two of the Forum’s 4-point resolution adopted on July 19, Chopi informed. (UNI)
