UDP celebrates foundation day

SHILLONG: The 23rd foundation day of the United Democratic Party was observed on Friday with party president, Metbah Lyngdoh, hoisting the party’s flag at Laitumkhrah.
The event at the new site, acquired for construction of its office building, was attended by senior party leaders including Bindo Lanong, Jemino Mawthoh, Donbok Khymdeit, ministers, CEMs of KHADC, MLAs, MDCs, et al.
Speaking at the function, Metbah said, “On UDP Foundation Day, let us celebrate and acknowledge the selfless service and contributions of the founder of the party including late EK Mawlong, late BB Lyngdoh, late Dr Donkupar Roy and UDP workers, who have helped build and sustain the party for 23 years.”
Founded in 1997, the UDP is a political party started by EK Mawlong and is now led by Metbah.
