Guwahati: Fifteen years ago, an unemployed youth of Assam, embarked on what he thought was mission impossible–to establish a food chain on the lines of those in other cities. But now his dreams have come true, as ‘J 14’, as it is called, has set up 15 fast food joints here with an ambitious plan to set up a similar one in Kolkata.

The owner, Deba Kumar Barman, told a press conference here today, that fifteen years ago he had mooted the idea of setting up quality food stations which has become a reality.

“I was impressed by the food joints in Mumbai in 1997 and we can rightfully lay claim of being the first organised fast food chain in the region,” Barman said. “We have employed Assamese youths in our ventures and as part of social responsibility we have reached out to the villages to encourage youths to join us,” he said. “As a part of our ambitious plan, we will set up a food joint in Kolkata as well as in every state capital of the North Eastern region,” Barman said.
