Siejiong VEC celebrates Poshan Maah

SHILLONG: The Siejiong VEC under Mawryngkneng Block celebrated Poshan Maah with the inauguration of the visitors’ gallery, constructed under MGNREGA, and sensitisation on healthy food habits among children.
The VEC, with around 104 job card holders, majority women, constructed the visitors’ gallery costing around 10 lakh.
Block Development Officer (BDO) of Mawryngkneng Block, R Wahlang, and officials from the BDO’s office, Mawryngkneng C&RD Block, were present on the occasion.
In his address, the BDO congratulated the VEC for completing the project amid the ongoing pandemic.
The VEC earned praised from the BDO for constructing the visitors’ gallery despite being a group of over 100 job card holders, and implementing and adhering to protocols in the celebrations.
The local Dorbar exhorted upon the VEC functionaries to bring in more developmental activities into the village.
Moreover, Mawryngkneng MLA David Nongrum handed over plastic chairs and utensils to the village community.
In his address, the MLA lauded the block officials and called upon the village Dorbar and the VEC to work in tandem with the government to ensure development in the village.
