TURA: The United Hajong Community Development Organisation has urged Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to look into the transportation problem being faced by the people of Marok village under Selsella C&RD Block, West Garo Hills.
In a statement issued here on Monday, president of the organisation, B Ch Hajong sought the construction of an all-weather road from Kamalapara to Marok village to ease the problems faced by the villagers.
Hajong said that anti-poverty and employment generation programmes under Pradhan Mantri Gramodaya Yojana was launched way back in 2000-01 by the central government to address such issues and that many nearby villages had benefited from it. However, he added, Marok village, which is only a few kilometres away from Selsella Block, has so far been neglected.
“I, therefore, urge Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to look into the matter and construct a pucca road in the village. I request him to take up the matter with concerned departments so that the long-overdue problem of the villagers can be addressed,” Hajong said.
