NONGPOH/TURA: As a part of the Nation wide celebration, the 51st Teachers’ Day was also celebrated in Ri-Bhoi District to mark the birth anniversary of the Late President Dr. S. Radhakrishan, the celebration was attended by Ri Bhoi District Deputy Commissioner Akash Deep Singh as the Chief guest in the presence of Director of School Education & Literacy, Ri Bhoi District, L Pynrope as the guest of honour.
On this day, three teachers from three schools in the district was honored and lauded for their service they rendered in imparting quality education and they were recommended for the District Award, the three teachers includes Brighterfield Khongwir, BA, Asst teacher of MeECL Secondary School, Kyrdem Kulai, Elias Mallai, BA, Head Teacher of St. Joseph Upper Primary School, Umden and Metilda Mallai, BA Head teacher of Bleishah L.P School.
Delivering his speeches on the occasion, Akash Deep Singh appreciated the office of the District School Education Officer for organizing the programme which was aimed at sharing the idea with the teacher, who are the Nation builders.
In another event, the District School Education Officer, West Garo Hills, Tura observed the 51st Teachers’ Day Celebration with an elaborate function.
Present at the function as the Chief Guest, Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills, Tura, Pravin Bakshi while extending his wishes to the teachers, condemned the merciless killing of a young teacher, Dannybirth G Momin in East Garo Hills and appreciated the unity and solidarity shown by the teachers and students in condemning the killing.
