SHILLONG: Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui has asserted that taking the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 forward in Meghalaya is going to be a big challenge for the government and the educational institutes.
Speaking at a panel discussion on the topic ‘NEP 2020: Aspiring to Transform’ here at Women’s College on Monday, Rymbui admitted to the obstacles that are likely to be brought about during the implementation of NEP. “Space, resources, trained faculty are some of the constraints and challenges,” he said.
Pointing out the need to lead children from primary to postgraduate level with the help of NEP, he said, “How the NEP will help the education system in Meghalaya and the country as a whole is now the focus. The pandemic has hit the education system hard. In its midst, the NEP has come”.
Stating that technology has its limitations and cannot take over classroom teaching, he said the NEP 2020 has been introduced at the right time.
He also hoped that the NEP will shed more light on how to take the new education system forward, especially during the pandemic.
Earlier, the refurbished college website was also inaugurated by the minister and the seminar was live-streamed as well.
The discussion organised by IQAC of Women’s College Shillong was also attended by panelists consisting of academicians, administrators and researchers from all over the country.
