SHILLONG: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) said that the demise of ‘Meiieid’ Spility Lyngdoh is a loss to the Khasi community as she was someone who chose to protect the land from uranium mining despite being offered crores of rupees.
Expressing grief at her demise on Thursday, the Union’s general secretary, Donald Thabah, said that the KSU had a close connection with the lady and her family members as they had same stand on uranium mining.
The Union called the 95-year-old anit-uranium activist a person with vision and bestowed with an understanding that refuses to give in to temptations. The Union said that it believes people like late ‘Meiieid’ Spility will emerge to protect the Khasi community.
