SHILLONG: The Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU) has yet again added another feather to its cap after the Department of Economics, Commerce and Management of the University entered the top tier of a survey of best B-schools in India for the second time.
The latest issue of Business Today, a business magazine, carried out the survey in which MLCU’s department ranked 292nd out of more than 2,500 institutions offering business programmes in India.
Also in the 2020 survey of India Today, MLCU secured several rankings. It was ranked 50th among the 461 private universities in India. Among the several criteria, the University scored well in career progression and placement, besides academic research and excellence.
The Social Work department of the MLCU was ranked 39th among 423 social work schools and departments. The BCA degree programme secured the 103rd position among around 4,200 institutes in the country, while its BBA programme ranked 130th among over 4,500 Management departments in India.
India Today assesses educational institutions in India annually and compiles a list of the top-ranking institutes, which is considered a gold standard for recruiters, parents, alumni, policy-makers, general public and institutions.
The ranking this year involved 112-plus performance indicators, which were framed by experienced field experts who determined the indicators critical for establishing the best institutions.
The performance indicators are then clubbed into five broad parameters – intake quality and governance, academic excellence, infrastructure and living experience, personality and leadership development, and career progression and placement.
