SHILLONG: Women folk, both Garos and Khasis, came out in large numbers in support of State Mahila Congress general secretary Pelcy Snaitang who will contest the upcoming 2013 Assembly election from Mawthengkut constituency. A felicitation function was also organised by the Shallang Mahila Congress, at Don Bosco, Shallang, in West Khasi Hills District.
Snaitang, who is the lone woman ticket aspirant from the constituency, is projected as the front runner from among the three aspirants for the Congress ticket. The other two ticket aspirants are Methodius Dkhar and former Congress MDC Srally Rashir.
Speaking during the felicitation function, Snaitang said that the final call for allottion of the ticket lies with the party leadership.
“I would respect and abide by the decision of the party leadership,” she added.
