Court convicts four in WKH

NONGSTOIN, Dec 4: The Court of the District and Sessions Judge-cum-Special Judge (POCSO), West Khasi Hills, has convicted four accused in cases related to rape and POCSO Act.
The trial court convicted Perment Marngar to 10 years imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 for committing rape. Failing to pay the amount, he will undergo further two months of rigorous imprisonment.
For an offence under section 506 (Part-II) IPC, the accused is convicted to seven years imprisonment, where both the sentences will run concurrently.
The court, on November 26, found one Sparding Nongbri guilty of committing an offence under various sections of the POCSO Act. He was convicted to 20 years rigorous imprisonment and is also subjected to payment of Rs 50,000 as fine.
It also convicted Pranab Borah, who will serve seven years of imprisonment and pay a fine of Rs 50,000 for raping a minor. Failing to pay the fine, he will undergo six more months of simple imprisonment.
Meanwhile, one Wanbudlang Wahlang was convicted to 15 years of rigorous imprisonment after he was found guilty for raping a minor. He is also to pay a fine of Rs 30,000, failing which, he will get three more months of simple imprisonment.
