SHILLONG: Despite pressure from a section of the party supporters, senior UDP legislator JD Rymbai on Wednesday reiterated his stand not to contest the upcoming Assembly polls saying “There is no question of turning back.”

There were reports that Rymbai might change his mind as UDP considers that Jirang could be retained only if the former chief minister contests from there.

“I have decided not to contest after consulting all sections of people. I shall have a meeting with my supporters in October-end to decide whom to support in the election,” Rymbai said.

He also denied having any pressure from any quarter to join the fray.

Informed sources, however, indicated that there has been pressure from the party supporters on Rymbai to contest 2013 elections.
