SHILLONG, Dec 14: Nearly a week after the Nongthymmai Block Congress Committee (NBCC) charged former Nongthymmai MLA Jemino Mawthoh with taking credit for the Nongrah Water Supply Scheme (Phase-1), the United Democratic Party (UDP), Nongthymmai circle, has argued that the project was the effort of the former Nongthymmai legislator. The scheme, sponsored by the Centre, is worth Rs 5.92 crore and meant to supply drinking water in Nongrah area.
Addressing a press conference on Monday, president of Nongthymmai UDP Youth Wing, Ker Cajee, praised the former MLA for bringing the water scheme to Nongrah, while also informing that Mawthoh, who is also the general secretary of UDP, had initiated a rural water supply scheme to the tune of Rs 27 crore for Nongrah, which was not implemented as the area is yet to be declared as defecation-free.
