TURA, Dec 29: A policeman who hid his marriage status and lured a woman into a relationship for two months has been arrested after she filed a complaint against him on Monday.
The accused, a constable of Police Reserve in Tura, Mosil N Sangma, had befriended the 20-year-old woman of Mahendraganj, currently staying in Tura, with promise of marriage. He had reportedly claimed to be single.
They came to know one another through Facebook in February 2019.
The clan of the woman had recently begun marriage preparations for the two of them when they found out that he is already a married man.
Shocked and angry, the woman walked into the police station and filed a FIR against him following which he was immediately arrested and forwarded to court. Disciplinary action has also been initiated against him by the police department.
