Debate on role of Dorbar heads in elections

 SHILLONG: A debate competition organised by the KSU Mawlai Circle at the institute of Polytechnics at Mawlai here on Tuesday came to the conclusion that the Dorbar Shnong should not get involved in politics merely for the sake of development.

Youths from various localities of Mawlai actively participated in the debate which ended with the house voting against the motion.

However, neither the headmen nor the local MLA and MDC turned up for the debate competition despite being invited.

Awards along with cash prizes for the winners of the competition were distributed with Artist Ryntathiang receiving Rs 3000 as the winner, while A Nongsiej as the 1st runner-up and M Lynrah as the 2nd runner-up received Rs 2000 and Rs 1000 respectively.
