SHILLONG, Jan 4: The Union Minister of State Youth Affairs and Sports, Kiren Rijiju has invited the leaders of the state unit of the BJP to New Delhi for a detailed discussion on the issue of the Inner Line Permit (ILP).
“We met the union minister today and discussed ILP, National Games and other developmental issues. But these could not be discussed in detail due to paucity of time as he had to leave,” state BJP president Ernest Mawrie told The Shillong Times on Monday.
He said Rijiju asked them to come to New Delhi on January 13 or 14 for a detailed discussion on ILP with him and others as well.
Mawrie said he was waiting for appointments with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other senior leaders before flying to New Delhi.
“Five of us from the state BJP, including members of the core committee, will go as the pandemic would not allow too many of us to travel,” he said.
The leaders of the state BJP have already had a round of discussion on the ILP issue with the party’s Northeast in-charge, Ajay Jamwal and other leaders in Guwahati on December 27.
Jamwal had also advised the Meghalaya unit of the party to take up the demand of implementation of ILP in the state with Shah and other central BJP leaders.
