Ri Bhoi, Kamrup police meet for peace along border

NONGPOH, Jan 8: In a bid to make headway into bringing harmony in the Meghalaya-Assam border areas in Ri Bhoi, the police from Ri Bhoi and Kamprup district of Assam held a meeting at Amingaon on Friday. One of the agendas of the meeting was to bring close coordination between the two police in eradicating criminal activities in border areas.
After the meeting, Ri Bhoi Superintendent of Police, Nazarius Lamare, informed that several important issues related to differences between the residents of the neighbouring states.
Further, the Ri Bhoi and Kamrup police have resolved to conduct joint patrolling from time to time in a bid to prevent any kind of crimes in the border areas.
The SP stated that strict vigil will be kept on the illegal supply of liquor in border areas, while adding that those found under such circumstances will be punished as per law.
It may be recalled that a joint meeting was also held between the Ri Bhoi police and its counterpart from West Karbi Anglong to discuss on similar issues on Wednesday.
