SHILLONG, Jan 13: State BJP Kisan Morcha has assured that the Centre is very much committed to farmers’ welfare while also beseeching the protesters to call off stir in New Delhi and honour the Supreme Court’s decision to stay the implementation of the farm laws.
Stating that the central government had initiated many schemes for the farmers’ welfare and financial growth, the BJP Kisan Morcha said that it respects the verdict of the top court.
It stated the Modi government has been making all-out efforts to put an end to the ongoing impasse by way of negotiations. “Government has also been offering the agitating farmer unions to discuss issues and also made its commitment to amend the laws for the betterment of farmers. But due to their refusal, the negotiations were incomplete,” it said.
The BJP Kisan Morcha also lamented that the deadlock exists because both parties are continuing to agree to disagree with each other. It also accused the Opposition of further worsening the situation for their “vested interests”.
The farmers, who have been camping at the Delhi borders, are demanding a repeal of the farm laws and a legal guarantee to the minimum support price for crops.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday had stayed the implementation of the contentious farm laws till further orders and also decided to set up a four-member committee to resolve the impasse between the Centre and farmers’ unions.
