EPFO launches employment scheme for M’laya, Mizoram

SHILLONG, Jan 14: The Atmanirbhar Bharat Rojgar Yojana (ABRY) Scheme for Meghalaya and Mizoram was formally launched through webinar by the Employment Provident Fund, Regional Office, Shillong, a statement issued here said.
Regional Provident Fund Commissioner, KK Srivastava, informed that the scheme was implemented on October 1 last year for employees possessing Aadhaar card and joining the Employees’ Provident Fund as a member for the first time.
The scheme has been designed for companies, industrial bodies, firms and societies and employees working in such companies, industrial bodies, firms and societies and enrolled from October 1, 2020, to June 30, 2021.
Here are the salient features of the scheme: The Centre will provide subsidy for two years in respect of new employees engaged between the specified period; both 12 per cent employees’ contribution and 12 per cent of employer’s contribution i.e. 24 per cent of wages towards EPF in respect of new employees in establishments employing up to 1000 employees for two years will be paid by the Centre; it will pay only employees’ share of EPF contribution i.e. 12 per cent of wages in respect of new employees in establishments employing more than 1000 employee for two years; an employee drawing monthly wage of less than Rs 15,000, who was not working in any establishment registered with the EPFO before October1, 2020, and did not have Universal Account Number (UAN) or EPF Member Account Number prior to Oct 1, 2020, will be eligible for the benefit; any EPF member possessing UAN and drawing monthly wage of less than Rs 15,000 and exited from employment during COVID-19 pandemic from March 1, 2020, to September 30, 2020, and did was not employed in any EPF-covered establishment up to September 30, 2020, will also be eligible to avail benefit; the EPFO will credit the contribution in Aadhaar-seeded account of members electronically.
