TURA, Jan 29: Du’kon, a well-known Garo play, was enacted by a handful of artistes at Angana North East Theatre Festival in Guwahati.
The artistes performed at the festival under the banner of A’chik Theatre group, which is Tura-based.
Directed by Pabitra Rabha and produced by A’chik Theatre of Tura, the play showcases contemporary social environment between the past and the modern era of globalisation where love and bonding, something that was cherished in the past, has been replaced by hatred and today’s avarice.
According to credence among Garo community, the Du’kon plant, when stepped on, is said to be able to mesmerise and lead people astray.
