SHILLONG: For over two weeks now, residents of Nohron village under Mawkynrew C&RD Block of East Khasi Hills have been living in total darkness due to a damage caused in the transformer located in the village.

Expressing disappointment over the lack of concern of the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL), Sordar of the village, G Nongrum, stated that they had taken up the matter with the MeECL officials on several occasions but in vain.

“Their reply was unsatisfactory as they stated that some of the parts needed for repairing the transformer were not available,” Nongrum said.

The Sordar also said that over 200 households in the village have been severely affected.

The Sordar has urged the MeECL to take note of the matter and restore power supply in the village at the earliest.
