SHILLONG: Outgoing president of the FKJGP, Emlang Lytan, maintained he had decided to step down as president of the Federation for personal reasons.
Speaking at the sideline of the swearing-in-ceremony of the newly elected members of the central executive committee (CEC) of the FKJGP here on Monday, Lytan said, “I have not decided to enter politics as the current political scenario in the State is still shaky with instability in every party.”
Stating that his decision to step down as the president was to pave the way for new leaders, Lytan said that new leaders are emerging and it was high time that they should be allowed to take over the reign and guide the people while ensuring the protection of the indigenous community.
Lytan also reiterated that his exit from the FKJGP did not mean that he is completely out of the picture, adding that he would always be there to guide them (new members) and advice them.
Lytan has been associated with the FKJGP for 23 years and had served as the president for 10 years.
