NGOs lend helping hand to Ferrando Hearing Centre

 NONGPOH: The Shillong City Entertainment Network Enterprise (SCENE) along with the KSU, North Khasi Hills district and HNYF, Northern Region, extended a helping hand to the Ferrando Speech and Hearing Centre in Umniuh Khwan under Ri-Bhoi district.

The Centre is home to specially abled children among others and provides quality education to such youngsters.

The SCENE along with the NGOs donated Rs 20,000 cash and 15 bags of rice and potatoes which were handed over to the director of the institution Sister Merly Tom Kizhakayil.

“The donation was for extending a helping hand to the institution for its untiring efforts in serving the disabled children,” SCENE Manager Arted Kharsati said while addressing a small gathering at the institution hall.

The SCENE also appealed to other organizations to come forward and help the Ferrando Speech and Hearing Centre which is rendering a valuable service to the physically challenged children.

It may be mentioned that Sr Kizhakayil of the Hearing Centre had won a national award for distinguished service to disabled persons.

Others present on the occasion included Meghalaya Resource & Employment Generation Council Vice Chairman Rayonald Kharkamni, KSU secretary, Vincent Makri, HNYF vice president, Apborlang Nongrum.
