Shillong, March 20: The first event of the MGPS Junior and Amateur Tour 2021 teed off on Saturday at the Shillong Golf Course. The competition was teed off by MGPS executive member Rocky Hek. The first day of the two-day tournament saw 14 junior participants across 3 junior categories. The event is organised by the Meghalaya Golf Promoters’ Society in collaboration with the Shillong Club Ltd. (Golf Section). The second and final round of the event will be played on March 27 followed by the prize distribution the next day.The stars of the event were 5 year old golfers Aryan Bajaj, MamatwaJhunjhunwala and Sharanya Bajaj. In Category 1, Thongvanglen Hangsing is leading with 91 followed by Sidhant Singhania at 94 and ShauryaGoenka at 102. In Category 2, Da-I-Paya Dkhar leads at 52 followed by Shivaai Agarwal at 55, Deep Bajaj at 56 and Ryan Pargal Lyngdoh at 59 along with Muskan Singhania at 65 and Pratham Jhunjhunwala at 70. In Category 3, 5-year-old Aryan Bajaj displayed a stellar performace and is leading with 12 strokes at 31 followed by MamatwaJhunjhunwala at 43 and Sharayna Bajaj at 45.
