NONGPOH: The 3rd year students of Social Work Department, St. Edmund’s College, which was placed under Meghalaya State Vector Borne Diseases Control Programme Society (MSVBDCPS) on Tuesday held an awareness programme cum health camp at Lawbrywa Village in Ri-Bhoi district.

Resourse persons who attended the programme included Dr EM Dhar, who spoke about the importance of mother and child health, immunization and how self medication can affect people’s health.

Dr Gazella Bruce Warjri, spoke about Malaria in Ri-Bhoi and elaborated on what Malaria is, the signs and symptoms, and the preventive measures.

Bandramus Synkli from Bethany Society enlightened the people of Lawbyrwa on how to prepare BOKASHI (a Japanese word which means manure prepared by fermentation). Bokashi farming is a more hygienic way of agricultural practices, piggery, poultry, etc. Dr D Rani of Umsning CHC spoke about health and hygiene.
