TURA, April 7: Former members of the now-defunct GNLA have bemoaned the non-release of rehabilitation package as promised by the government to them.
A meeting of the former militants was reportedly held at Chisobibra near Williamnagar in East Garo Hills on Wednesday to confer about ways to pursue the issue and mount pressure on the government for what was once promised to them.
Apart from the non-release of the package, they rued that despite promise, most of the cases against them have not been disposed of. They also asserted that they have no intention of returning to the jungles while beseeching the government to release the rehabilitation package at the earliest.
