MAWKYRWAT, April 10: PHE Minister, Renikton L Tongkhar, and officers from the department of PWD (Roads) and PHE, besides village leaders and elders from Nongsynrieh Presbyterian Church, on Friday, reviewed preparations for the Synod Service of the Jingiaseng Samla KJP Synod Sepngi slated for February next year.
The team inspected internal roads and parking sites within Nongsynrieh village in South West Khasi Hills as part of the preparation for the service.
Speaking to media persons, Tongkhar, who is also the local MLA, pointed out the need to complete the construction of the proposed approach roads so as to ensure free flow of traffic during the service.
“Even though time is short and a lot of work is to be done, we will try our best. We expect that through the cooperation of all line departments and the general public, we can complete the construction before the Synod Service. I also request the people from the neighbouring villages to provide a helping hand to ensure that the Synod is successful,” Tongkhar said.
Meanwhile, the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of Mawsaw PWD (Roads) Sub-Division, C Wahlang, informed that the PWD had just completed the survey of four approach roads stretching to 4.7 km, which will connect with other roads.
Wahlang emphasised that these roads need to be immediately completed so as to ensure that there is a flow of traffic during the Synod Service.
