SHILLONG, April 16: A body of a man, who is prima facie suspected to have hanged himself, was found at Saw Mer Shiteng, Upper Shillong. While it is suspected that he had killed himself inside the forest area at Saw Mer Shiteng, police have ruled out the possibility of foul play.  When contacted, the Rangbah Shnong of Saw Mer, Moris Shabong, informed that the body was first discovered by the residents who were out for their morning walk on Friday. The residents first informed the Assistant Rangbah Shnong and, at the same time, also reported the matter to the police, he said.
The Rangbah Shnong claimed that the man is not a resident of the village, stating that the residents have verified this.
Meanwhile, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Sylvester Nongtnger, said that there is no suspicion of foul play.
“We will wait for the post-mortem report to confirm it (foul play),” Nongtynger added.
