Ram Singh urges citizens to get vaccine shots

 TURA, April 20: West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Ram singh on Tuesday urged all those eligible for the Covid Vaccine to get vaccinated while at the same time requesting the citizens to wear masks and follow other protocols with a warning that a fine of Rs 1000 would be imposed on anyone found violating the protocols.

 

Ram Singh made the appeal during the District Level Covid Committee Meeting held in Tura in view of the higher rate of the spread of the virus this time in other states and in other districts of Meghalaya, and to chalk out ways and means to prevent the spread of the virus y following the protocols issued by the government.

 

In the meeting which was also attended by Superintendent of Police Dr. R Kumar, CEO, Tura Municipal Board, R Ch Sangma, EAC, M L K Marak, Officials of line departments, Church Leaders, members of Development Committees, Bazaar Committees, Self Help Groups and others, Ram Singh informed that screening has already been started in Bajengdoba and any persons entering the districts from North East and other States need to register themselves in Meghalaya online application app. He added that the timeframe for RTPCR test validity is 48 hours adding, if anyone tests positive they should go for home quarantine for ten days. Ram Singh also informed that 30 or 40 beds are available at the Covid Ward in Tura Civil Hospital equipped with ICU facilities, which however are meant for serious patients.

 

Ram Singh also said that from April 16, all kinds of meals are prohibited but as the situation is under control in the district all schools and commercial establishments will function normally by following the Covid protocols strictly. He however added that the situation would be monitored and necessary instructions will be given.
