NEW DELHI, April 22: Wrong depiction of the location of Keibul Lamjao National Park, in Meghalaya instead of Manipur, by Nestle company in its popular Kit Kat chocolate wrapper has stirred a controversy in the high-end confectionary industrial circles.
Manipur government has formally complained to the Gurgram-based company and urged it to retract the display.
Keibul Lamjao National Park is the only floating national park in the world situated in Lok Tak lake of Manipur famous for its endangered brow-antlered deer called ‘Sangai.
Ironically, red pandas found in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim are also not found in Keibul Lamjao National Park.
The Manipur government’s Forest department has written wrote a letter to Nestle over a ‘factual error’ on the wrapper of one of its chocolate brands.
According to the department, the food and chocolate giant has on the wrapper of its chocolate brand, KitKat, wrongly written the location of Keibul Lamjao National Park as Meghalaya.
The park is located at Moirang in Manipur.
